Parenting Children with ADHD

Being a parent always takes patience, but parenting a child with ADHD can be extra hard! The constant pushback, ongoing energy... It's a lot! My household runs the smoothest when I manage it like I managed my classroom. Clear expectations, routines, positive feedback, patience, and a lot of effort to not take it personally when the littles lash out. Not all parents have teacher training though and that is where these tips come in. This article, written by ADHD coach Jodi Sleeper-Triplett, MCC, SCAC, BCC, provides a fantastic breakdown of how to use a positive parenting approach (same as many teachers use in their classrooms) to support your kids at home. Remember, structure, clarity, kindness, and consistency are key!

As always, even though the publication is geared towards parents of children with ADHD, this approach is appropriate for ALL children of any age and ability.
